Christmas 2021

Cheers! It's been a real ride ...

Some straight up honesty …

By now I am sure most of you know that TropicalBytes has a really impressive staff of ONE! Yup, it’s just me. Well, to be completely honest, it’s more like 1/3 of me. The other 2/3 is hustling to pay bills. Yes, if I harassed the industry more I could probably make TropicalBytes a full-time thing but that takes time and time is a precious commodity in my world - all the spare time I have is spent investing in the stories I bring you. As stupid as this sounds, I’d rather bring you a valuable story and make nothing off it than bring you something half-baked, surrounded by adverts. Kind of a Catch 22.

Perfect case in point is this December … I have been using every minute I can to weave the Jaff 21 story, trying desperately to get it to you in December but it is just so full of amazing content that I have run out of time to do it justice. So I have had to make the decision to postpone it to January. For the first time in about 5 years, you won’t get a monthly article - my humble apologies!

And that brings me to my discussion about interesting times … my household has been affected by the pressures of our depressed economy and I find myself needing to orchestrate creatively to keep us going. This means that long-term investments, like TropicalBytes, become longer-term and quicker turnover opportunities, like my corporate contracting, take priority. It isn’t ideal but it is what it is.

How does all this affect YOU? Well, you have my eternal gratitude for being loyal readers - I hear all the time about how the popularity of TropicalBytes is growing. I also need to thank you for graciously understanding when I delay an article. But, first and foremost, I need to thank the handful of loyal advertisers. Not only do you enable me to cover some costs but you also show me that what I am doing has value; that it’s not just a product of my personal passion but it has value for the industry. This keeps me going.

Finally, I want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a very happy New Year. I’ll be back with that cracker Jaff 21 story in January.
